Yesterday, on July 26th of 2025, we hosted our fifth sterilization clinic in Tzununa. The amount of hard work, physical labor, vet dedication, and volunteers who showed up were astoundingly strong and impressive.
This element of animal rescue, sterilization clinics, are one of the hardest yet one of the most important elements of rescue work. Without it, there would be endless puppies and kittens being born who would not have a home and thus perpetuate the cycle of death and destruction that is so common in these areas.
Without this part of the work [sterilization clinics], the lives for the village animals as a whole would never improve. 😢

I will admit that it is one of the hardest elements for me personally. Seeing animals undergo anesthesia, operation, and recovery are all tough on the psyche. However we know it is for the best of the community of animals, and that it will allow the animals that are here in the streets get better care and attention. It is absolutely necessary the numbers go down if the animals are going to have a good life as a collective in this area. There is absolutely no other way, and that's why we do it.
Sterilization clinics have always needed to happen in town in a consistent way. However, with the little amount of support that's received in this area (especially by the government), and how little our single organizations resources are, the town definitely does not get the amount of sterilizations it needs to be able to control the population. However we stand here as the lone force continuing to make it happen, and can you use your help to continue on further.
Check out a gallery of lots of photos from the event below!
Thanks to all the volunteers and donors who helped make this happen!
And by lunchtime, we had a lot of delicious food thanks to the donors who donated for this! I wish I took pictures of that 😆🍗🍲

Hey guys, you know, it's tough out here. Caregiver's burnout is real. Sometimes I wonder how long I am able to keep up this fight. We are not alone but it often feels like we are. The local government does not show enthusiasm for supporting our projects, nor do we have a very good line of communication with them in the first place. It is totally necessary for us to work together if we're going to make any difference here. We also still do not feel entirely welcomed by the local community. Ojala, we pray for the day this work will be considered essential, valued, and supported. Then perhaps the dogs will not lack for anything.
Will the government help us eventually? Would they be willing to help us even though they were so unkind and unwelcoming to other organizations? This remains to be seen.
In the meanwhile, for the animals we push on and keep up this great fight.
There is no better thing in life to have purpose in what you do.
Thank you to everyone who make our dreams daily come true. ✨️
And thank you if you are one of the awesome people that reads through our emails. Our voice is small, but strong when given your ear.
